It is school policy to encourage all pupils to prepare for suitable external examinations.  The main external examinations, GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education), are currently offered in twenty subjects and taken in Year 12.   Other examinations organised by AQA, Royal Society of Arts, and Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music are also taken by pupils.

We are currently looking at ways to increase the range of applied subjects offered to exam level in the School.  In order to pursue this we are currently looking at ways of collaborating with other post 16 schools in the area.

The school finds that this range of examinations best covers the educational opportunities and aspirations of its pupils.  Most pupils build on their success at GCSE taking further courses at Grammar School and FE Colleges; some eventually going on to University.
