We have a very active music department in The High School Ballynahinch. We are always making music whether it is at choir practice, show rehearsal or simply in our lessons. Our school choir consists of approximately 50 members who take part in many different engagements. They have competed in ‘UTV Choir of the Year’ and ‘Sing Carols’ for the BBC. Last year 2007/08 we were involved in the ‘Young Voices’ concert in the Odyssey Arena and sang in Down Cathedral as well as our usual yearly engagements.
This year we are starting off in October with a concert in the Waterfront Hall with the Cross Boarder Orchestra. So, we have a busy time ahead! The music department consists of 25 hi-tech keyboards, and drum kit and a didgeridoo.
In the Music Department we offer tuition on the following intruments:
There are over 50 pupils who receive private tuition within school and many off these sit a graded exam at the end of the year via the ABRSM syllabus. There are also ensembles and band that rehearse on a regular basis. Londonderry Air by L Barr

We also had a trip to Lamorlaye, France in June with the Ballynahinch Twinning Committee and it was a great success.
